Kate Ferdinand announces tragic news of miscarriage with husband Rio in heartbreaking Instagram post

Kate Ferdinand has announced the tragic news that she suffered a miscarriage and had to have surgery following her 12-week scan. The former TOWIE star wrote that she was "absolutely devastated and heartbroken" in an Instagram post on Wednesday evening.

She made the heartbreaking announcement with a photo showing her lower half in a hospital gown, with her feet propped up on a bed. Kate and husband Rio Ferdinand share a one-year-old son called Cree.

"The last time I was in this hospital I was having Cree, but this time it was because our baby had no heartbeat in our 12 week scan and I had to have surgery," Kate wrote.

"We were so excited & planning a space for our new baby in our family, we just couldn't wait to share our news with you all, but unfortunately sometimes life just doesn't go as we plan."

She continued: "So much to say, but somehow I can't find the words. Absolutely devastated & heartbroken …but couldn't be more grateful for the hugs I got from my big(er) babies coming through the door when we arrived home."

Kate's post received an outpouring of support and condolences from friends and fans alike, the Mirror reported.

"This is heartbreaking," wrote Sam Faiers, her former TOWIE co-star, with a crying emoji. "Sending you lots of love and strength x x."

Danielle Lloyd commented: "So sorry for your loss @xkateferdinand," and Georgia Kousoulou added: "So sorry Kate."

Lauren Pope wrote: "So sorry to you all, sending lots of love," and Kate Lawler told her: "Oh Kate. I’m so deeply sorry for you and your lovely family. Sending you so much love and hugs x."

Kate and Rio's son Cree was born December 2020. She is also stepmother to his three other children - Lorenz, Tia and Tate.
