Karnataka: Woman stabbed to death

MANGALURU: A woman died, after she was stabbed by a miscreant in broad daylight, near Janapriya Hall, Nettamudnur village, of Bantwal taluk on Monday.

According to police, the deceased is Shakuntala,35, from Anantady, who was running a canteen in Puttur. The incident took place when she was riding a two-wheeler, and going from Vittal to Puttur. She was waylaid by an autorickshaw driver Sridhar with his vehicle, and then allegedly stabbed by the accused. According to a complaint lodged by her husband Sanjeeva D, till last year, the deceased used to travel in the accused’s autorickshaw to the canteen.

The accused is from Yamunaje, and is a relative of the victim. After the victim bought a two-wheeler, she stopped travelling in the autorickshaw of the accused. The victim’s husband suspects that it caused bad blood between the two. The police have taken the accused into custody. A case has been registered at the Vittal police station.
