Karnataka: Two held for cow slaughter in Bantwal

MANGALURU: Dakshina Kannada police arrested two persons, who were engaged in the illegal trade of cow meat, at Golthamajalu in Bantwal taluk on Friday.

The arrested accused are Mahammed Ismail,47, and Sabith Hussain,18, residents of Golthamajalu village.

Based on a tip-off, Bantwal town police conducted a raid, and arrested the duo. Police said that the accused were packing the cow meat behind a house, when the raid was conducted.

Eighty kilograms of cow meat, a cleaver, weighing scale and Rs 4,500 were seized.

A case under sections 4 and 12 of the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Act, 2020, has been booked against the accused.
