Karnataka: Tiger found dead in Nagarahole

MYSURU: A tiger was found dead in the Antharasanthe range of Nagarahole tiger reserve on Saturday, confirmed forest officers. The carcass of the big cat was found close to human habitation and forest officers suspect foul play.

The visceral samples of the big cat ahve been collected for examination.

The tiger is aged about 7 years, said an officer who was present at the time of postmortem. The body was totally decomposed and found in a bushy area. It is still not known whether the teeth and claws are intact though there were no external injuries on the body. The big cat may have died a few days ago but it came to light early on Saturday.

The carcass was destroyed as per the guidelines of the National Tiger Conservation Authority after conducting the postmortem. Forest officials have launched a probe to track the path of the tiger.
