Karnataka: Man held for killing his friend

MANDYA: A person was arrested by Mandya police on Saturday for allegedly killing his friend over an illicit affair in Belagola village of Srirangapatna taluk.

According to police, Ravi (28), a resident of Belagola village was allegedly killed by his friend Sharat in front of a wine shop late on July 27. The victim’s throat was slit and his head was smashed with a machete by the accused. Sharat then absconded, while the injured was shifted to a hospital in Mysuru where he succubed to the injuries.

Ravi had rented out his house to Sharat who was running a kebab shop in front of a wine shop. Ravi allegedly had an illicit affair with Sharat’s mother-in-law. Sharat warned Ravi to discontinue his illicit affair or face serious consequences. However, Ravi disregarded Sharat’s warning and he allegedly continued the affair, said police.

Enraged over Ravi’s behaviour, Sharat allegedly killed him while he was standing in front of a wine shop where he was working as a bartender.

Sharath was arrested on July 29 by KRS police.
