Karnataka lifts weekend curfew, night curfew to stay; Schools, colleges to reopen in all districts, except Bengaluru

BENGALURU: The Karnataka government has decided to withdraw the statewide weekend curfew with immediate effect and continue with weekend curfew from 10pm to 5am, revenue minister R Ashoka declared on Friday.

The government has decided to reinstate the weekend curfew if the state's hospitalisation rate exceeds 5 per cent.

The government also decided to reopen schools and colleges on Monday, barring Bengaluru.

The decision applies only to state-run and state-aided schools.

Henceforth, the schools will be treated as a unit.

In the case of about seven students testing positive on school campuses, that school will remain closed for three days.

Along with this, micro-containment zones can be started to ensure that students’ studies are not affected.
