MAGADI: A 30-year-old grocery shop owner and her six-year-old daughter drowned in a pond (kalyani) at Magadi on Saturday morning after their electric scooter skidded off the road and fell near it.
The victims are R Mangala and her daughter R Sannidhi, residents of Magadi town. At 6am, a milkman noticed their electric scooter had fallen on the steps of Gundaiahanabavi kalyani and alerted police. "It did not take us long to identify the owner of the scooter, Rangegowda, as there are very few electric vehicles in Magadi," police said.
Local swimmers waded into water and recovered the bodies at 6.30am. Police said it is not clear how the scooter skid and Mangala lost balance.
