BENGALURU: Karnataka’s Covid vaccination coverage touched another milestone on Saturday with the total number of doses administered breaching the seven-crore mark.

With 2.9 lakh doses were administered on Saturday (as of 9pm), the state has so far used more than 4.3 crore doses for first-shot coverage and more than 2.6 crore for the second one. As on November 20, the state has jabbed 89.2% of the eligible population with the first dose and 54.2% with second.

Bengaluru Urban district has seen the highest first-dose coverage with over 121%, followed by Kodagu (97.5%) and Vijayapura (nearly 97%). In second dose coverage too, Bengaluru Urban district remains on top (almost 80%).

In BBMP limits, nearly 88% have been covered with the first dose and more than 60% of the city’s adult population has been fully jabbed.

Currently, the Har Ghar Dastak (knock at every door) campaign is being held, as part of which healthcare workers check for unvaccinated persons and those due for second dose. It will continue till the month-end.

Doctors’ cyclothon today

A team of 10 doctors from Bengaluru will take part in a cyclothon on Sunday from Bengaluru to Mysuru to celebrate, encourage and improvise the Covid vaccination programme in the state. The team headed by critical care medicine specialist Dr Justin A Gopaldas aims to cover a 150km distance in 8-10 hours.
