Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah orders land audit in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah has directed the revenue department to conduct land audits around Bengaluru and clear alleged encroachments by resorts and homestays on government land.

On Tuesday, the chief minister wrote to the revenue department principal secretary, asking him to conduct a land audit and survey within a 100km radius of the city.

The move comes in response to a complaint to the chief minister by former MLC and KPCC spokesperson Ramesh Babu, who had brought to the government’s notice that about 75,000 acres were encroached upon, of which around 6,000 have been illegally possessed by various resorts.
