Kanye West vows to stand by Balenciaga despite huge backlash after controversial campaign

Kanye West has publicly supported Balenciaga despite severe criticism following the luxury fashion brand's controversial campaign.

The Spanish brand, which was founded in 1919, came under fire after a global campaign featured children holding teddy bear bags accessorised with bondage gear and documents referencing a Supreme Court ruling that upheld a law that criminalises child sexual abuse images.

The fashion house pulled the controversial campaign last Tuesday (November 22) amid a severe online backlash and deleted the disturbing photoshoot from Instagram.

Balenciaga released a statement via their Instagram Story last week, claiming they were "taking legal action" against a third-party team behind the ads.

However, Kanye, legally known as Ye, collaborated with Balenciaga for his popular Yeezy Gap line and has a close relationship with creative director Demna Gvasalia. His ex-wife Kim Kardashian came in for criticism for not speaking out sooner about the advertisement campaign.

On Thursday evening, the 45-year-old musician wrote a series of tweets in support of Balenciaga, despite the Spanish brand severing their contract with him in October.

The first one read: "God loves Balenciaga. Love is the answer. Jesus is the answer.

"Paying for all the innocent artist and beautiful humans who make clothing that had nothing to do with the adds (sic). People's grandmothers work their for Christ sake."

He then wrote: "I stand by Balenciaga and denounce all witch hunts and I cancel cancel culture. Jesus is King. Ending trafficking doesn’t start or end with a fashion campaign for Christ Sake.

A third tweet read: "Never turn our backs. Demna and the Balenciaga family for life. Cancel cancel culture. Jesus please heal."

The comments on Twitter come hot off the back of his interview with right-wing radio host Alex Jones on Infowars, where he repeatedly praised Adolf Hitler and admitted he "sees good things" and "likes" the Nazi leader.Jones tried to defended the rapper before Kanye insisted he admired Hitler.

"I like Hitler," Ye said, who wore a bizarre outfit which featured a black hood used to cover his entire face.

"They did good things too, we’ve got to stop dissing the Nazis all the time."

His latest tirade comes on the back of his ban from Twitter for anti-Semitic comments, his 'White Lives Matter' controversy at Paris Fashion Week and he has been dropped by a number of big brands, including Adidas, something which has cost him his billionaire status.
