Kanye West to launch burger chain

Kanye West – rapper, producer, blogger, entrepreneur and … fattener-up. This last vocation is a new one, coming as Kanye's company, KW Foods LLC, plans 10 fast-food restaurants in the Chicago area. The restaurants aren't Subways, Pret a Manger's, or anything remotely healthy. No, this American chain wears its modus operandi proudly on its sleeve – it's called Fatburger.

According to Chicago Business, Kanye's first Fatburger joint will open next month on Chicago's La Grange Road, with another to follow in January. KW Foods is presently pursuing a lease for a third outlet.

The Fatburger chain is known for its dedication to an old-fashioned style, with free jukeboxes in every outlet and an appropriate slogan: "The Last Great Hamburger Stand". There are 93 Fatburger restaurants across the United States and Canada.

Although big, sloppy hamburgers don't quite mesh with Kanye West's hyper-hip anime/LED design aesthetic, Fatburger has long had a connection with hip-hop – and besides, Kanye's probably eaten a ton of them while hanging out near their California headquarters. Ice Cube, the Beastie Boys and Notorious BIG are among those who have rapped the praises of the chain – and rappers E-40 and Queen Latifah both reportedly own franchises, and Pharrell Williams has opened an outlet in China.

As we see it, the only trouble for a rapper is how few words rhyme with "Fatburger". Then again, it almost rhymes with "murder" – and that's probably enough.
