Kanye West denies being an enemy or friend of Taylor Swift

Kanye West makes a point as he holds his first rally in support of his presidential bid in North Charleston

In a recent Instagram post, Kanye West addressed the ongoing feud between him and Taylor Swift, stating that he is neither her enemy nor her friend. The rapper responded to a call from Swift's fans, known as 'Swifties,' urging them to stream Beyoncé's new track in an attempt to prevent West from reaching the top of the charts.

West asserted that he has actually been more helpful than harmful to Swift's career. He clarified that when he referred to himself as the new Jesus, it had nothing to do with Taylor Swift. Reflecting on the challenges he faced last year, including the backlash from posting anti-Semitic rants, West shared how it affected not only him but also his family, friends, and even his ability to stay in certain hotels or eat in certain restaurants.

Moreover, West reminded fans that he supported Swift when Scooter Braun acquired her masters without her knowledge. He acknowledged both Swift and Beyoncé as inspirations to all musicians, highlighting their success in selling out tours and movies. West stated, 'I'm sure I've been far more helpful to Taylor Swift's career than harmful.'

Addressing Swift's fans directly, West clarified that he is neither their enemy nor their friend, adding a light-hearted 'lol' at the end. He also disputed the claim that he and his wife were kicked out of the Super Bowl after purchasing seats near Swift's suite. According to West, they had left their seats to visit YG's box and spend time with friends. West and his wife were photographed at the game, appearing on the CBS broadcast wearing eye-catching masks.

The animosity between West and Swift can be traced back to 2009 when he famously interrupted her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. The feud escalated in 2016 when West mentioned Swift in his song 'Famous,' with lyrics that ignited controversy. Swift asserted that she had not approved the use of her name in the track, leading West's then-wife, Kim Kardashian, to release a phone call as evidence. However, it was later revealed that the conversation had been edited.

After a year of laying low, Swift returned to the public eye with her sixth studio album titled 'Reputation.'

The ongoing saga between Kanye West and Taylor Swift has maintained its place in the spotlight, captivating fans and igniting debates about loyalty, creative control, and the limits of artistic expression. As both artists continue to carve their paths in the music industry, it remains to be seen whether this feud will ever find a resolution or continue to flourish in the realm of pop music drama.
