LUBBOCK, Texas _ Kansas has won 14 straight Big 12 championships ... and counting.
The No. 8-ranked Jayhawks (23-6, 12-4) busted a tie with UCLA for most consecutive conference titles on Saturday by claiming an historic 74-72 victory over No. 6 Texas Tech (22-7, 10-6) at United Supermarkets Arena.
Devonte Graham scored 26 points, including four straight in the last minute to bust a 68-68 tie, and Svi Mykhailiuk added 21 as KU _ which led by 11 points in the first half and eight with 4:41 left before needing to pull it out at the end after Tech tied the contest _ secured a two-game lead in the league standings with two games to play.
Graham hit 10 of 18 shots and was 4 of 7 from 3; Mykhailiuk made 6 of 14 shots and was 4 of 10 from 3.
With the win, the worst KU can do is tie for the crown. The Jayhawks can win the undisputed title with a victory over Texas at 8 p.m. Monday at Allen Fieldhouse, which will be Senior Night for Graham, Mykhailiuk and Clay Young. KU closes the regular season a week from Saturday at Oklahoma State.
UCLA won 13 straight Pac-8/Pac-10 crowns from 1967 to 1979.
Malik Newman added 12 points and Udoka Azubuike seven rebounds and six points as KU snapped Tech's 17-game homecourt winning streak.
Zhaire Smith scored 20, Jarrett Culver 18 and Brandone Francis 11 Saturday for Tech, which after beating KU by 12 points in Lawrence earlier this season was trying to become the first team in the Bill Self era to sweep a regular-season set versus the Jayhawks.
Graham hit a deep two with 1:29 left to give KU a 70-68 lead and followed that up with a driving layup with 31.9 seconds left to give KU the 73-68 advantage.
KU, which led 41-37, at halftime, held a 48-46 lead 13:17. That's when Mitch Lightfoot and Graham scored to make it 42-46, at 12:13. KU was up 57-52 when Graham hit a long 3 with 1 second left on the shot clock, giving KU a 60-52 lead at 7:52.
Tech cut the gap to 67-64 on a 3 by Culver at 3:50. Smith made it 67-66 KU at 2:59 by cashing a layup. Newman hit a free throw to make it 68-66 then Smith dunked at 2:27 to tie it at 68.
Mykhailiuk scored 15 points and Graham eight the first half as KU led, 41-37, at the break. KU, which led by as many as 11 points in the half (37-26 at 4:51) and hit 7 of 13 3s to Tech's 4 of 12. Smith had 10 points and Jarrett Culver eight for the Red Raiders. Keenan Evans had just one point while starter Justin Gray played less than a minute after running into Azubuike, who was setting a screen in the early going.
KU raced to an 8-0 lead at 16:55. Mykhailiuk and Graham hit 3s, while Azubuike had a dunk.
Down, 10-2, Texas Tech used a 12-5 run to cut the gap to 15-14 at 12:59. Tommy Hamilton had seven points at that point for the Red Raiders.
KU opened a 27-20 lead following a bucket by Azubuike off a pass from Graham and a Mykhailiuk steal and layup.
Mykhailiuk scored four straight for KU in a 4-1 run that upped a 33-25 lead to a half-high lead of 11 points, 37-26, at 4:51.
Tech, which received six points from Culver, went on a 9-2 surge to cut a 37-28 gap to 39-37 with 50.5 seconds left in the first half. Azubuike scored off a pass from Mykhailiuk for the final points of the half.
