Kaitlynn Carter pens essay about Miley Cyrus and their relationship

The Hills star Kaitlynn Carter penned a personal essay for Elle magazine about her whirlwind relationship with Miley Cyrus over the summer.

The 31-year-old reality TV star opened up about her sexuality, sharing that “It had never crossed my mind that I was even capable of loving a woman the way I loved her.”

“It just happened and it felt exactly right. Reflecting back on our three-year friendship, I realized I’d always been drawn to her in a way I wasn’t with other friends, but until that trip it had never crossed my mind to think of her in a romantic sense,” she said. The two women vacationed together in Italy over the summer and were first snapped kissing on a yacht by paparazzi.

They shared multiple selfies from their trip on Instagram and the ‘Slide Away’ singer even got a tattoo of one of the sculptures they saw in Italy to commemorate their time together.

Carter also shared a story about developing feelings for a “much older man” when she was 22. While her family and friends didn’t understand this relationship, she said that “there was a chemistry that drew me to him as if I had no say in the matter.”

When discussing her romantic interest in Cyrus, the lifestyle blogger explained that she was naturally drawn to her in a similar way. “I fell just as hard for her as I had the older man so many years before. It was that same familiar force of nature; I didn’t have to think about a thing or overanalyze.”

The two first sparked rumors that they were more than just friends during their time vacationing together in August. Carter had recently split from Brody Jenner and Cyrus had just parted ways with her husband Liam Hemsworth, who she was with on and off for a decade. Hemsworth has since been spotted with Dynasty star Maddison Brown.

Carter's relationship with Jenner, a fellow star on The Hills, lasted for six years. “He became my best friend, and together we had all the fun the world had to offer. Eventually though, after years of constant ‘excitement,’ we found we’d done as much growing apart as we’d done growing up. I began to spend a lot of time traveling on my own or with friends, quietly mourning what I knew in my heart would soon be the end of my marriage.”

She also spoke about the legitimacy of her marriage to Jenner, which has been questioned because the couple got married in Indonesia but never signed US legal paperwork. But to the reality stars, it was very much real. “The legitimacy of that marriage has become a matter of public debate, but for he and I, it was very real,” she said.

Since their relationship ended in September, Cyrus has moved on with singer Cody Simpson.

She’s also distanced herself from both of her exes, unfollowing Hemsworth and Carter on Instagram.
