Kai Havertz 'open' to Man Utd transfer as Leverkusen star eyes Premier League switch

Kai Havertz is reportedly 'open' to a move to Man Utd this summer as he has his sights set on a switch to the Premier League.

The Bayer Leverkusen star has been attracting interest from across Europe for his performances in the Bundesliga, where he has scored five goals in four games since the season restarted.

Liverpool are believed to be among the front runners for his signature, but MEN report Havertz would also be willing to move to Old Trafford if the opportunity presented itself.

The 20-year-old feels a change of scenery from Germany to England is a realistic possibility at the end of the season.

Club spending is likely to be hampered by the coronavirus crisis, and Leverkusen value Havertz at around £90million.

Leverkusen would rather not sell their star man, but are aware they may be forced to offload him to help balance the books in the current economic climate.

Coach Marcel Daum said earlier this week: "The situation with coronavirus is so strange and so complicated that it’s still open that he will leave us.

"I don’t know what will happen, but at Bayer he has the right place to develop his strengths and improve. The only thing I know is that Bayer won’t sell him for a cheap fee."

Havertz has admitted previously that he is ready to take the next step in his career amid interest from Europe's elite, and hinted that he would welcome a move to the Premier League.

A transfer this summer looks to be dependant solely on the finances of potential suitors, while Leverkusen's own attempts to qualify for the Champions League could have a say in whether he stays for one more season.

But the club's sporting director Rudi Voller concedes it is a matter of time before the starlet flies the nest.

"I'm honest, I always have such a small hope that we can and will keep him here for another year," Voller told SkySports.

"It doesn't change the fact that he's already a world-class player anyway, that's what he was before. Now the attention is even more on him.

"He will switch to an absolute world-class club at some point."
