Juventus transfer would see Paul Pogba 'reborn' says team-mate who advised against Man United move

The future of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba remains uncertain, with former club Juventus expected to be keen to sign him if the opportunity arises.

Along with Real Madrid, it appears his current club could be involved in a three-way tussle for the French World Cup winner’s services next season.

Former Juve midfielder Claudio Marchisio, who played alongside Pogba for several seasons, says he advised his younger team-mate against a move back to United four years ago and instead suggested a move to La Liga would have been beneficial.

Marchisio this time, however, believes a return to a former club would suit United’s No. 6, as he was well-treated in Turin.

“I would be very happy [if he came back to Juventus],” Marchisio said to Tuttosport.

“I told him that he was wrong to go to Manchester and that if he really wanted to change he should choose Spain.

“Having said that, his return would be extremely positive; Paul would be reborn in the environment he loves and looks after him most.

“And he would give Juventus a lot as they need someone like him in the middle. He is a great professional.”

Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola said in January he would not take any more of his clients to Old Trafford as they lacked a “sporting plan” and could “ruin” top talents.

Juventus sit top of Serie A with 12 games to play in the interrupted 2019/20 season.
