Juventus favourites to re-sign Paul Pogba and more Manchester United transfer rumours

Juventus have emerged as strong favourites to sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United on a free transfer for the second time, according to reports. Speculation over World Cup winner Pogba and his impending move continue to attract heavy attention from Old Trafford and beyond.

A decade on from his first switch to the Italian giants, Pogba has been tipped to return to Turin during the summer transfer window. The 29-year-old won four straight Serie A titles with Juventus before United splashed out £89m to lure him back to Old Trafford in 2016.

Despite winning a League Cup and Europa League double in his first season back, however, the Academy graduate has struggled to replicate his Juventus or France form on a consistent basis. So might another 'homecoming' be next up for Pogba, too, as he runs into the final weeks of his United contract?

Goal reports that Juventus are at the front of the queue for his signature. Real Madrid and big-spending Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain are credited with an interest, while closer to home Manchester City and Newcastle are mooted to be in the mix, as well, before the market reopens.

Elsewhere, it has been reported that City are desperate to hijack United's would-be move for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong as incoming manager Erik ten Hag sets his sights on a dream reunion. Of course, the two Dutchmen worked together at Ajax.

As the Old Trafford giants prepare to prioritise central midfield signings, De Jong has been identified as a top target, but that pursuit might not be straightforward if their neighbours have anything to do with it.

Manchester Evening News understands United are weighing-up a £75million swoop for De Jong.

According to transfer insider Dean Jones - as per this article from Give Me Sport - City are continuing to monitor his availability, too, with suggestions from Spain claiming that it would take a figure much nearer to £85m for Barcelona to sanction a switch during the upcoming transfer window.
