Juventus confirm Cristiano Ronaldo decision that impacts Harry Kane amid Man City transfer links

Harry Kane's future at Tottenham Hotspur continues to dominate the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old, who could return to Spurs' squad for their second Premier League outing away at Wolves on Sunday afternoon, has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City in recent months.

However, the north London club's stance - as it has been all summer-long - is that Kane is not for sale, football.london understands.

City boss Pep Guardiola recently confirmed the reigning Premier League champions' interest in the 2020/21 Golden Boot winner, but admitted any possible move relied on Tottenham's openness to sell.

Guardiola said: "He’s a player for Tottenham Hotspur. If Tottenham don’t want to negotiate, it’s finished.

"If they are open to negotiate, I think not just Man City but many clubs in the world want to try to sign him – we are not an exception – but it depends on Tottenham.

“It’s different from Jack. Jack had a release clause and he is different.

"Harry Kane is an exceptional, extraordinary striker – no doubts about that, of course we are interested – but he is a Tottenham player and, if they don’t want to negotiate, there is nothing more to say. If they want to, we will try.”

So with a move for Kane proving difficult for City, they have reportedly been offered an alternative to the England captain - in the form of Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to Corriere dello Sport, via the Daily Mail, Guardiola has been offered the chance to sign the Juventus superstar by his agent, Jorge Mendes, for just £25million.

But now, Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has all but confirmed Ronaldo will be staying in Turin for the 2021/22 season at least.

He said: "Cristiano told me he's staying at Juventus. He's not leaving the club and it was never a problem, he's training so well."

Ronaldo, who represented Manchester United for six years from 2003 until 2009 before moving to Real Madrid, would cause massive controversy if he was to move across the city and represent their neighbours City.

The 36-year-old, though, appears to be staying put at the Turin-based club for the time being, despite having less than 12 months remaining on his contract with the Italian giants.
