Juventus boss gives Paul Pogba verdict with ex-Manchester United man set for Jose Mourino reunion

Juventus head coach Massimiliano Allegri has made it clear how happy he is with Paul Pogba as the midfielder prepares to kickstart his career with the Serie A side.

Pogba, 29, suffered a meniscus tear during pre-season, which sidelined the France international for almost eight months. The midfielder was an unused substitute in late January against Monza before making his second debut against Torino last week.

He came on as a second-half substitute with 20 minutes remaining and the scoreline at 2-2. Three minutes after the player's introduction, Juve went in front before one-time Manchester United transfer target Adrien Rabiot double the advantage ten minutes from time.

Allegri addressed Pogba's return during a pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday's match against Jose Mourinho's Roma. "Pogba has reacted well to coming back," the boss said. "He's doing fine even though he's not had much playing time. I'm happy with how he did against Torino.

"Tomorrow is important because it will be a great challenge against Roma. We must put past matches behind us, and then we'll see how the season develops. Mourinho is doing a great job, making Roma fight for a Champions League spot. I hope that he'll be on the touchline tomorrow."

After winning an emergency appeal against a two-match touchline ban, Allegri has got his wish of being joined by Mourinho on the sideline.
