Justin Pugh compares Kyler Murray to Odell Beckham

The praise of new Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has been effusive. Every new report, every quote from anyone around the Cardinals says something impressive.

We have more from a teammate. This time it is guard Justin Pugh, who will block for Murray as a starting left guard.

He compares Murray to a former teammate, receiver Odell Beckham.

“Kyler has been unbelievable,” he said on Good Morning Football. “The things he can do, there are very few guys (who can). I mean, Odell Beckham comes to mind with natural, God-given ability. He can make every throw and he’s one of those guys, where when he makes a play, everyone just stops and stares.”

Pugh even admits to sometimes getting caught up in watching Murray make a play instead of focusing on his job in a rep in practice.

Pugh isn’t saying Murray will make amazing, one-handed catches on the field. He isn’t saying Murray is a great receiver. He is saying Murray is as naturally gifted as a player as Beckham.

Beckham, now a member of the Cleveland Browns, in five seasons has already caught 390 passes for more than 5,400 yards. As a rookie, he had over 1,300 yards in only 13 games.

Murray could have that impactful a rookie campaign.

Is it hype? Yes, but as consistently as it is coming and from as many people, it is hard not to believe.
