Justin Fields says Ohio State was “the best fit for me”

Ohio State has kicked off the season 5-0, and they’ve done so on the back of Heisman candidate Justin Fields. While others have contributed to the Buckeyes’ scorching hot start, he’s been the team’s unanimous leader.

Fields, who transferred from Georgia where he spent his freshman year, has reminded everyone why he was a five-star quarterback coming out of high school. After all, he did abuse Miami (OH) with six touchdowns in one quarter.

However, coming to Columbus wasn’t an easy decision for Fields after seeing the immense success in Athens, Georgia. He sat down with ESPN analyst and former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit to discuss.

“It was kind of hard from week to week knowing how much playing time I would get,” Fields told Herbstreit of his first year in Georgia. “I think I learned a lot just from that year.”

Fields has certainly shown an extra level to his play, already notching over 1,000 yards and 16 touchdowns through the air. He’s also yet to throw a single interception.

“I talked to Coach Day after I entered my name in the transfer portal. I just kind of got to build a relationship with him. Great, offensive-minded coach. And, just learning how the offense operates, I felt like it was the best fit for me,” Fields said.

He’s been amazing for Ohio State so far and should continue to thrive after making what could be one of the best decisions of his life.
