Justin Fields looks like the five-star QB we knew he was in first half vs FAU

We all knew this wasn’t going to be pretty for Florida Atlantic, but Justin Fields wanted his first performance in the Scarlet and Grey to be an unforgettable one.

Let’s just say he did that within the first two minutes, ripping a 51-yard run to kick off this season’s scoring, and it didn’t stop there. The Buckeyes montage just overpowered FAU early on.

The nation’s fifth-ranked team scored three touchdowns in the first seven minutes of the game and enter half up 28-3. Things may have hit a bit of a speed bump in the second-quarter, but there’s plenty to like.

Fields’ footwork, speed, and vision were on display here, and he’s looking even better than many thought. The combination of Fields and rookie head coach Ryan Day may be all Ohio State needed to get back to the CFB playoffs.

Fields ended the first half with 172 yards (209 all-purpose) and four touchdowns. He was also an efficient 10-for-16 through the air.

However, we won’t give Fields the golden ticket until he does this next week against a tougher opponent in Cincinnati and continues to show signs of life in the second half.
