NEW YORK — You’d better belieb it!
Justin Bieber will perform at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center later this month, organizers announced Wednesday, his first time doing so in six years.
Bieber leads all artists with seven nominations at the awards show, which takes place Sept. 12.
The “Sorry” singer is nominated for artist of the year, and is also up for video of the year for his appearance in DJ Khaled’s “Popstar” video.
It will be the first time since 2015 that Bieber, 27, has performed at the VMAs.
Bieber is in the midst of a big year, with his hit “Peaches” rising to the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. The song, which features Daniel Caesar and Giveon, is nominated at the VMAs for best collaboration, best pop video and best editing.
The VMAs return to an in-person format this year after transitioning to a mostly virtual show in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with performances at that ceremony taking place throughout New York’s five boroughs.
Other artists scheduled to perform at the 2021 VMAs include Doja Cat — who is also hosting the ceremony — as well as Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Nas X, Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes, Kacey Musgraves and the Foo Fighters.
Bieber is a four-time winner at the VMAs. He has received 28 nominations.
