Just Stop Oil protestors stop England Cricket team on way to test match against Ireland

The England Cricket Team have been delayed by Just Stop Oil protestors whilst on their way to face Ireland at Lord's in London.

England are facing the Green and Whites in an important four day warm-up match ahead of this summer's Ashes series against Australia. But whilst they were on their way to the venue their team bus was held up by the well known protest group.

In his Instagram page, England captain Jonny Bairstow posted an image of the protestors in front on the team bus with the caption, "If we're a bit late it's not our fault..."

It did not have much of an effect on England, though, with the activists only delaying their arrival at Lord's by around five minutes.

Ireland are using the Test match as preparation for the crucial upcoming World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe. They'll face a strong England outfit filled with players with plenty to prove in terms of selection for the Ashes series against Australia this summer.

Worcestershire seamer Josh Tongue will make his international debut ahead of Chris Woakes after being drafted into the squad as injury cover for James Anderson and Ollie Robinson, who have both been rested against Ireland as a precaution.

Ireland are also without their bowling sensation Josh Little, as the 23-year-old left-arm seamer has been granted rest time ahead of those qualifiers after spending almost five months in the IPL.
