'Just another day in Dublin' - Luas passengers shocked as car attempts to drive along red line

Some unusual scenes occurred on Monday night on the Luas red line when a car caused some disruption by attempting to drive along the tracks.

The incident occurred just after 7pm on Monday night this week, leading to some services being interrupted for a period for passengers travelling along the 20-kilometre, 32-stop line.

The car managed to mount the tracks just after the Blackhorse platform on the bridge heading toward Drimnagh, however, the car became stuck on the tracks causing the trams to stop and emergency services to respond.

In footage that became shared on social media, crowds can be seen gathering at the Blackhorse stop where the vehicle became stuck. Dublin Fire Brigade responded to the incident with two fire brigades and a tow truck showing up to help move the car from the tracks.

In the footage, shared to TikTok by the account mike_abs_, a Luas tram can be seen stuck behind the white car with people waiting on the platform of the track as firefighters can be seen walking towards the vehicle which is sat on the tracks.

People waiting at the platform stated that they had spoken to the driver who seemed to be fine following the incident.

In an update to passengers on Monday night Luas operators said: "No service inbound from Blackhorse due to car on tracks. Tickets are valid on Dublin Bus."

In the TikTok, captioned “Just another day in Dublin” mike_abs_ can be heard saying: “Just here at the Blackhorse Luas stop, I was on the Luas going into town and believe it or not, some lad has tried to drive down the Luas tracks.”
