Jurgen Klopp's next job is obvious as Liverpool injury mystery continues

Pressure comes with the territory for managers. If teams lose consistently, journalists have to ask the questions. More than anything, the last thing you want if you're Liverpool at the moment is for Jurgen Klopp to leave, that’s the last thing you want.

He’s just got to install the belief in the players, get a couple of good results, and get players back from injury. Liverpool have had several strikers/forwards injured for some time now.

Darwin Nunez has just come back, and if you improve Mohamed Salah - he’s not been what we know he can be - that might be a reason why Liverpool aren’t winning games right now as well.

The defence are not defending well, the midfield aren’t doing their job properly and the forwards aren’t scoring. What does all of that lead to? A 3-0 defeat to Wolves.

Jurgen is the one who can sort it out and give the players the belief. And, more importantly, get Liverpool back to where they were by the end of the season.

Get the players out that are needed and the players in that are needed. Because it looks like Liverpool need four big players to come in.

Liverpool must get back to basics

Liverpool have got to get back to basics and do the right things. Not conceding goals, not giving teams easy chances.

They have done that before by pressing, and getting the right midfield three that will press the opposition. Plus, get Virgil van Dijk back from injury, have some leadership in the defence.

Get Luis Diaz back firing with Roberto Firmino when they’re back from injury, then there will be more options.

A couple of wins can change things, just look at Everton and how things can change around. Two weeks ago, mates of mine were devastated - rock bottom and thinking they were going down. Now they’ve got a new manager in, then beat top of the table Arsenal. And now they’re buzzing, so it can change like the flick of a switch.

Look at Manchester United, where they were when they beat Liverpool in August. It revitalised them, and now look at them, they are flying.

Things can turn around. As quickly as they have gone bad, they can quickly turn around. I’ve seen it before many times. But there’s a lot of hard work in the process to make it come to that.

Injuries don't seem right at Liverpool

I don’t know what the main problem is, but I will say one thing that not many people talk about. If you look at the injuries that Liverpool have had over the last three years or so, that’s not right when you compare it to other teams.

Liverpool have been decimated, like when all of the centre halves were out injured in 2020/21, and this year with all the injuries, what’s that all about? You just can’t have a full team out injured. I don’t know.

Is it just unlucky? Then you think that the club has got really good back-ups, but it shows at this moment in time that it looks like they haven’t.

At the same time, if you look at the forwards. Cody Gakpo has only just signed, Darwin Nunez is only just back from injury, Mohamed Salah hasn’t been himself for a long time.

They need to sort themselves out and score goals. Creating the chances and scoring the chances.

Plus, as bad as they are defending just lately, take a little bit of pressure off the back four by taking chances in front of goal.

Of course constantly making changes to a team hasn’t helped things. Ibrahima Konate and Van Dijk are injured, so that’s two of the back four out.

All of the forward line has been injured at some point this season, except for Salah. Gakpo has only just come to the club and is finding it hard to settle, so it’s problematic.

And when you’re not playing one of the top midfielders in the league with Fabinho, who has not played well this season. Jordan Henderson is captain and should be starting, why isn’t he? Is there something wrong, or an injury?

You need your captain when you’re struggling, and it’s a strange one to me that he only comes on with 15 minutes to go at Wolves.

No top four unless dramatic change is made

Top four is well gone for Liverpool. Unless they can win nearly every game then they are back in the fold, but that’s highly unlikely at this moment in time.

Things can turn, you never know, but I can’t see it.

The priority this season is to beat Everton next Monday night in the Merseyside derby at Anfield. No more than that at the moment.

That’s just it, the next game. There’s no better game to try and get back on track, it’s either Man United, Man City or Everton.
