Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp admits the dream for the club would be to have a “team full of Scousers” in the future.
The academy has produced Trent Alexander-Arnold and Curtis Jones, who signed a five-year contract at the weekend, in the last couple of years but Klopp knows fans would love to see more local representation.
“What we want to be is the sport for everybody with a Scouse soul,” he said.
“If you love football and are talented we want you to be here. It is really nice the boys are so close to it.
“That Trent made it and the three others (Jones, plus fellow academy graduates Harvey Elliott and Neco Williams) are close to it.
“It is a good sign for the kids around.
“They are so humble and hard-working.
The perfect scenario is that we have these role model professionals around.
“If the boys follow this path with their talent they will have proper careers. They need luck injury-wise.
“The dream is to have all the boys (from the academy). The dream is to have a team full of Scousers.”
