Jurgen Klopp outlines Mohamed Salah's upper hand over Cristiano Ronaldo

Jurgen Klopp did not want to proclaim Mohamed Salah a better player than Cristiano Ronaldo - but said the Liverpool star does have a stronger left foot.

Salah has been in irrepressible form so far this season, with 12 goals already registered including a goal in each of his last nine consecutive appearances.

Klopp was full of praise for Salah after his recent wonder goal against Watford, marking his down as the best player in the world on current form.

But the Reds boss refused to be drawn into a debate on whether he's a better player than Manchester United star Ronaldo.

Klopp said: "Why should we compare them?

"Both are world-class players. Mo's left foot is probably better. Cristiano is slightly better in the air and with the right foot. Both pretty quick and desperate to score goals."

Klopp stated Salah is the best player in the world after his man of the match display in Liverpool's 5-0 win over Watford.

"Come on, who is better than him? We don't have to talk about what [Lionel] Messi and Ronaldo have done for world football and their dominance but, right now, he is the best," said Klopp.

"His performance was massive. The pass for the first goal was great and the second goal was special. He is top, we all see it."

Klopp's comment has been debated all week with pundits taking both sides.

Former Liverpool stars Jamie Carragher and Ian Rush agreed with the Reds boss, with the latter telling Gambling.com: "One of the reasons I fancy Liverpool on all fronts this season is because Mohamed Salah is in the form of his life.

"I would go as far as to say that he is playing even better now than he was in his first season at Liverpool when he ended up with an unbelievable 44 goals in 52 games overall."

Thierry Henry, on the other hand, reckons Salah has some way to go to topple Robert Lewandowski and Karim Benzema.

Henry told CBS Sports: "The goals that he is scoring, at the moment, are very good. But how can you forget about Lewandowski? How can you forget about Benzema? How can you forget doing it at the national level also?

"Right now, he's suffering a bit with Egypt. It's not easy. But he's not doing it there yet. But those goals are ridiculous. I love Salah. But he's not yet the best.

"Is he the best player right now in the Premier League? By a distance. On current form are you not putting Benzema there right now, with the way he is playing? What he is doing for France and at the Euros? It's not that clear, for me.

"This is why Benzema is ahead because he has been a complete player, with goals for a long time. Salah is becoming a good player, not only a great goalscorer."
