Jurgen Klopp makes Man City and Liverpool Premier League prediction

Manchester City will not be able to win 98 points again in the new season, according to Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

City and Liverpool dominated the Premier League last season, winning 98 and 97 points respectively. It came after Pep Guardiola's men won a record 100 points in 2017/18, meaning they have registered the two highest points totals in Premier League history in the last two seasons.

But despite keeping up the quality for two years in a row, Klopp says City will find it more difficult this season as their competition have all had strong transfer windows.

Admitting Liverpool will also struggle against their top six rivals, Klopp predicted that the Premier League will be a more even race this season.

“It looks like this season will be different to last season because there was a big gap between the other teams and us and City," Klopp explained.

“Competition will be closer in title race; more than just two teams."

Explaining how Tottenham, Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea will all improve, Klopp suggested that City or Liverpool will not be able to dominate games against the 'Big Six' as they did last season.

He continued: “Tottenham lost contact in March, United much earlier but then came close again [to top four], Arsenal was long then lost contact, Chelsea pretty similar.

“Chelsea changed their manager and will change their structure completely and there is always a chance for them.

“If you look at the team, yes they have had a transfer ban, but they have a really good team. United have been pretty busy in the transfer market, they want to change a lot.

“It looks like we will all be closer to each other than last season.

“If that is the case then you cannot get 97 or 98 points, you have to win all the important games, the best way is to win all the games.”
