Jurgen Klopp makes Jordan Henderson admission as Liverpool plan explained

Jordan Henderson has resumed training with Liverpool - but faces a race against time to be fully fit for the Premier League opener at Norwich City on Saturday week.

Henderson was training at Kirkby on Thursday as the remainder of the senior Reds squad concluded their pre-season training camp with a 60-minute friendly double header against Bologna in Evian.

The Reds skipper is now slated to feature for some minutes during Liverpool's friendly with Osasuna at Anfield on Monday evening.

But with fewer than nine days to go before the campaign begins, Henderson is likely to be on the bench at best at Carrow Road.

"Hendo trained today in Liverpool," said Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp. "We will meet on Saturday. It's all fine.

"We will see if he plays a few minutes or not, but I haven't thought about it yet. It will more likely be in the second game."

Liverpool won both games against Bologna in France, with goals from Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane clinching a 2-0 victory before a completely different XI triumphed 1-0 thanks to Takumi Minamino's strike.

The Reds complete their warm-up programme with Anfield friendlies in successive days, with the visit of Osasuna preceded by a clash against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday afternoon.

With Anfield operating at 75% capacity for both matches, each is heading towards being a 40,000 sell-out.

And Klopp added: "I can't wait for it, actually. I heard now that it's nearly sold out. We are selling 75% of the tickets and that will be the biggest atmosphere and crowd I have played in front of for 18 months or so.

"If anybody is worried that they have chosen the wrong game (to attend) I couldn't say which is Team A and which is Team B, to be honest.

"Today (in Evian) it was the same. We only have good players here. Both line-ups will go for everything, so both are fine.

"We hope the people are looking forward to it as well. Let's play those two games. We are where we are, judge it, use it and go for it."
