Jurgen Klopp makes admission over pundits to Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher

Jurgen Klopp admitted to Sky Sports' Jamie Carragher that he doesn't really listen to him or other football pundits.

The Liverpool boss' team has been the most talked-about side in Europe this season after going a thrilling 27 games unbeaten in the Premier League.

Former Reds defender Carragher is often at the forefront of all things Liverpool, sharing the lion's share of Sky's punditry duties with ex-Man Utd legend Gary Neville - whose advice was once criticised by Klopp.

And the German coach revealed he now takes little notice of the comments of those on the outside looking in.

Asked how regularly he listens to pundits like Carragher on TV or radio, Klopp told Sky Sports' The Football Show: "Really not a lot, sorry Jamie. Maybe that’s the reason why we can be so friendly with each other. Not a lot.

"I respect that you have an opinion, and I think the former players are doing really well.

"We cannot really listen to it, because we have our own problems and in the moment we judge our decisions - I made that decision already, I cannot change that.

"If we lose then Jamie’s right, if we win then maybe I was right."

Klopp is largely happy to talk to the media, and is frequently interviewed before matches by Neville or his Sky Sports colleague Geoff Shreeves.

Yet with so much interest and discussion surrounding football in the modern day, Klopp has taken to extreme measures to avoid being affected by what is said.

"I watch football a lot of the time completely without commentary," Klopp added. "It’s bad but I want to focus on the game. I don’t want to hear anybody tell me no.11 has the ball now."

Despite not engaging with the content produced, Klopp has no issue with the likes of Carragher and co. doing their job, though now operates with an element of caution.

Adding of the presence of pundits, Klopp said: "I respect that a lot, I have absolutely no problem with it.

"But when I see it or when somebody asks me about it then I am in danger of giving a harsh answer, like it was with Mr Neville once in the past."
