Jurgen Klopp issues Premier League warning to Liverpool stars after Man Utd draw

Jurgen Klopp has warned his Liverpool players that the "hardest period" of the Premier League season is yet to come.

The Reds are currently top of the Premier League table having picked up 25 of a maximum of 27 points - and lead Manchester City , who have played a game more, by three points.

Their only slip up so far came last weekend when they drew 1-1 with Manchester United - with Adam Lallana needed to jump off the bench to earn a point.

Klopp's men have already beaten Arsenal , Leicester and Chelsea this season and have a November clash with Manchester City and a Merseyside Derby with Everton in December as potential banana skins on their road to what they hope will be their maiden league title since 1990.

The German are insisted that the Premier League trophy hasn't even entered his mind yet, despite the fast start to the campaign.

"No, I don't dream about the league title," he said. "I didn't dream of the Champions League final and we won that!

"But we are working on it. We are in a better position than we probably would have expected before the start of the season. Are we already through? No. That's it.

"What we have created so far is a proper basis, and that's what we have to work with. The hardest period ever will come again, November, December, crazy the games we play.

"We need to be lucky in some moments, we don't have influence on everything, but what we can influence is a specific performance in a specific game. That's what we try to do.

"We have to fight for it. There are no guarantees. It's allowed for everybody else to dream, but somebody has to work."

The Reds face Tottenham in a rematch of June's Champions League final - which Liverpool won 2-0.

"I don't understand 100% what happened," said Klopp of Mauricio Pochettino's side, who have run into a sticky patch. "What I saw now during the week, it was Spurs how they can be as well.

"That's the team we are preparing for, we cannot prepare for a team that was struggling maybe three or four weeks ago. We need to be intense in that game, 100%, because playing a little bit against Tottenham will not be enough.

"They want to strike back, they want to improve their situation, we won the Champions League final against them."
