Jurgen Klopp issues Divock Origi injury update after West Ham win

Jurgen Klopp is confident Divock Origi has avoided adding to Liverpool’s injury problems in attack.

Origi was forced off midway through the second half of the 2-0 Premier League win at West Ham United on Wednesday night.

The Liverpool striker, who had laid on the turf shortly before being replaced by Fabinho, had an ice pack strapped to his left leg when sat watching the remainder of the game in the dugout.

The Belgian had replaced the injured Sadio Mane in the starting line-up and won the penalty from which Mohamed Salah netted the opener.

But Klopp is hopeful the 24-year-old will be available for Saturday’s visit of Southampton when the Reds look for the victory that will take them 22 points clear at the Premier League summit.

“When players come off it’s always a concern, especially when you’re playing three days later,” said Klopp.

“But as much as he told me, what he had was cramps.

“Let’s hope that it is like this and he will be ready again (for Saturday).”
