Jurgen Klopp clarifies Ryan Kent future as Liverpool boss rules out loan move for winger

Liverpool will not allow Ryan Kent to leave on loan again – with Jurgen Klopp declaring the player will only be granted a permanent departure.

Kent has featured regularly during pre-season but was absent with illness from the 3-0 defeat against Napoli at Murrayfield on Sunday.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a successful spell in Scotland with Rangers last season, with Steven Gerrard believed to be keen on being reunited with the winger.

Liverpool, though, would only consider a permanent exit for Kent.

And of the player's time at Ibrox, Klopp said: “It helped a lot. He came back a completely a different player.

“It was a very important year. It helped, good club, good manager and means good competition.

“Exactly the right thing for him at the right moment.

“But going back? (Only) If Rangers can buy him. The time is over giving him on loan.

“At a specific age, a player needs to find a place to settle and stuff like this. But we will see. A loan is not planned.”
