Julian Edelman’s hopeful halftime tweet during Patriots-Bills did not age well

With New England trailing the Buffalo Bills by a large margin at halftime, former Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman put out a funny tweet to show he had faith that the team would come back.

The post compared New England’s halftime deficit in Buffalo to that of Super Bowl LI, when the Patriots were down at halftime to the Atlanta Falcons by the infamous 28-3 margin. Edelman played a big role in that game, catching five passes for 87 yards — including, of course, his circus catch off the shoe of a Falcons’ player.

But there were no such heroics for New England in this game. Edelman’s tweet did not age well, as New England lost, 47-10.

As the New England Patriots look towards the offseason, a comeback of that magnitude was not to be.
