New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman showed his excitement for the return of Josh Gordon. The NFL reinstated Gordon to the league amid an indefinite suspension — he has spent most of the last four seasons serving that suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
Edelman and Gordon played together for the Patriots in 2018. Edelman has repeatedly expressed support for Gordon, most recently resetting the labels surrounding Gordon.
“I think that’s how he was portrayed publicly — that he’s problematic. I think he’s dealing with a life issue,” Edelman said during an interview on New York’s HOT 97 on June 26. “When he was around team, he was a great teammate, worked his but off and practiced hard. Some people just have to deal with different things in life. They have to battle. I think that’s what my guy is going through.”
Gordon and Edelman should make an excellent tandem in 2019.
