Scottish tennis coach Judy Murray has slammed Edinburgh Leisure for charging more than £60 to rent an indoor tennis court.
Judy Murray, mum to Wimbledon champion Andy, criticised the cost on Twitter after a local resident flagged the cost.
Local resident Joseph McKay drew Murray's attention to the cost of renting an indoor court on Twitter.
He tweeted: "Can’t believe [Edinburgh Leisure] are charging £60 for an indoor tennis booking... @JudyMurray sort them out please."
Murray responded, saying "£60.40 for an indoor tennis court for one hour? Surely not."
It's not the first time the tennis coach has slammed Edinburgh Leisure bosses for the price to rent courts in the city, previously saying they should "stop taxing tennis" after it was revealed they charged £9.40 an hour to rent a court in The Meadows.
A spokesperson for Edinburgh Leisure, who operate facilities on behalf of Edinburgh Council, said at the time they try to "keep costs as low as possible".
Judy has long campaigned to increase access to tennis through her charitable foundation.
Edinburgh Leisure told Edinburgh Live in 2019 that the reason for charging more at peak times is to keep courts well maintained, and help ensure free access at other times.
A spokesperson said: "We keep our costs as low as possible to ensure courts are manned, maintained and lit (during darker months). We offer free access during October-March and at designated times in April, June and September, but unfortunately the only way we can support this is to charge at peak times."
