Judgement Day will return to the Principality Stadium this weekend for the first time in three years. One of the most important dates in the Welsh rugby calendar, the double-header on Saturday, April 22 will see all four regions in action in Cardiff on the final weekend of the United Rugby Championship.
The day kicks off with Dragons taking on Scarlets at 3pm before Ospreys and Cardiff go head-to-head at 5.15pm. Thousands of fans are expected to attend the season finale at the stadium, having last been held back in 2019 before the outbreak of the Covid pandemic the following year.
The big event will see roads across the capital closed for much of the day, while bus services are also being affected. Trains will run in and out of Cardiff throughout the day but services are expected to be busy with passengers warned to plan ahead and leave plenty of time for their journeys. Here's everything you need to know ahead of the return of Judgement Day on Saturday.

Road closures
The following roads will be closed as part of the city centre road closures taking place between 11am and 9pm on Saturday.
- Tudor St from its junction with Clare Rd to its junction with Wood St (access for residents & traders will be permitted via Fitzhammon Embankment)
- Plantagenet St & Beauchamp St from their junctions with Despenser Place to their junctions with Tudor St (access for residents & traders will be permitted)
- Saunders Road from its junction with St Mary Street
- Penarth Road from its junction with Saunders Road to the entrance leading into the rear of the Central Train Station.
- Civic Centre: Access to part of the Civic Centre will be controlled throughout the day with access allowed only for event parking, limited City Hall Parking for visitors only, loading and access to private car parks. Roads affected include King Edward VII Avenue, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road & Gorsedd Gardens Road.
- The following roads will be closed in their entirety: Westgate St, Quay St, Guildhall Pl, Golate, High St, St.Mary St, Caroline St, Wood St, Central Sq, Wombany St, Park St, Havelock St & Scott Rd.
Buses
Due to road closures for the Judgement Day event at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff Bus will use alternative city centre bus stops between 11am and 9pm. The following changes will be in force:
- Services 1 and 2 and 7 will start and end at Canal Street, and the Baycar (service 6) will start and end at Customhouse Street JG
- Services 13, 15, 17, 18, 25, 32, 61, 62, 63, 64 and 66 will start and end at Fitzhamon Embankment
- Services 4, 92, 94, 95, 96 and 96A will start and end at Tudor Street
- Services 8, 9 and X45 towards Cardiff Bay and the Sports Village will start and end at Hayes Bridge Road
- Services 8 and 9 to the Heath Hospital, 11, 44, 45, 49, 50, 52, 57, 58 and 59 will start and end at Churchill Way
- Services 21, 23, 24 and 27 will start from Greyfriars Road GL, service 35 will start and end at Greyfriars Road GJ, and services 51 and 53 will continue to start and end at Greyfriars Road GK
- Services 28, 28A, 28B will start from Greyfriars Road GJ and service 30 will start and end at Greyfriars Road GG
Gareth Stevens, Commercial Director at Cardiff Bus said: “As the excitement of Judgement Day returns to the capital, we will be following our match day diversions to minimise disruption to services for our customers. Our website and app have been updated to reflect the bus stop changes.
“We would advise all our customers to check these route and bus stop changes before travelling on this weekend to ensure they are fully aware of all diversions in place.”
Trains
Transport for Wales is running a near full rail timetable in and out of Cardiff on Saturday, but services will be busy so passengers are advised to leave plenty of time for their journey.
The only changes currently listed affect the 4.50pm Penzance to Cardiff Central service, which will divert after Filton Abbey Wood to terminate at Bristol Parkway, and the 10.47pm Cardiff Central to Bristol Temple Meads, which will be replaced by a bus.
