Fresh off of clinching the Republican nomination for president, Donald Trump faced a significant development in his election conspiracy case in Georgia. The presiding judge dropped six of the 41 counts in the indictment against Trump and his co-defendants. Notably, three charges against Trump himself, including one related to a controversial phone call to Georgia's secretary of state after the 2020 election, were dismissed.

Judge Scott McAfee cited a 'fatal lack of detail' from the prosecution to support the specific charges that were dropped. However, he emphasized that the entire indictment was not dismissed, with the core of the case remaining intact. Trump still faces 10 criminal counts in Georgia.
