Josh Kerr makes history with Commonwealth Games gold in Glasgow

Josh Kerr Gold Commonwealth Games Glasgow Jazmin Sawyers

Josh Kerr secured a Commonwealth Games mile gold medal in Glasgow, becoming the first Scot to win a middle-distance blue riband at the Games.
Kerr won the tactical race in 3:54.22, surging ahead on the final lap to beat rivals including Australia's Cameron Myers and Kenya's Timothy Cheruiyot.
The victory was particularly significant for Kerr, who had previously broken the 27-year-old world mile record two weeks prior in London.
In other athletics news, Jazmin Sawyers claimed an outdoor athletics gold in the long jump with a best effort of 6.93m.
Sawyers' win marked a significant achievement, upgrading her Commonwealth long jump silver from 12 years ago and overcoming a history of injuries.
