Josh Hart felt like only LeBron James and KCP were safe last season

Although we’re in the middle of the NBA Finals, with the NBA draft is only a few weeks away and the start of the 2019-20 free agent period a month away from kicking off, the autopsy of the Los Angeles Lakers failed first season with LeBron James is still getting uncovering a lot of details.

And NBA Finals participant Danny Green of the Toronto Raptors decided being in the Finals wasn’t enough this week, releasing a new episode of his podcast “Inside The Green Room” he did with Lakers guard Josh Hart.

In it, Hart reveals his feelings at the time of the Anthony Davis trade saga, in which he believed the only players who were safe were those represented by Rich Paul and Klutch Sports.

“It seemed like nobody was untouchable honestly besides Bron and KCP.”

Hart evidently did a good job of staying away from the news, as Caldwell-Pope’s name was mentioned basically since the start of the Lakers season in trade talks. And specifically, he was reportedly included in offers for Davis.

Nevertheless, the state of paranoia and anxiety that the Davis trade talks was considerably more than the usual pro athletes face in their working lives. Yes, trading is part of the business but never was it such a dominant theme as it was last winter around the Lakers.
