Josh Gordon present, Julian Edelman in pads at Patriots practice

New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman wore pads at practice for the first time in training camp on Monday, according to reporters on the scene. That seems to indicate he is off the non-football injury list, though the transaction is not official.

Receiver Josh Gordon was present at practice, but was not in pads. He is on the non-football injury list as he tries to get into football shape after returning from suspension. Receiver Cameron Meredith was also in a jersey, as he is on NFI. Receiver Maurice Harris and tight end Matt LaCosse, who were both dealing with injuries, returned in full pads. Receiver Demaryius Thomas was present, but didn’t appear to be wearing pads.

Edelman has spent training camp on the NFI list with a thumb injury. Thomas is nursing an Achilles injury from last season which landed him on the physically unable to perform list. Meredith was in the PUP list with a knee injury from last season.

Gordon joined the Patriots on Sunday and will not participate in any of the team’s preseason games. It remains to be seen when he’ll join the team for practice.

Harris and LaCosse are dealing with undisclosed injuries.
