Jose Mourinho sends a message to Daniel Levy over transfers as Liverpool handed challenge

It is not a good time to be a Tottenham fan.

It is now six games in a row without a win for Jose Mourinho's men, for whom the season looks to be petering out with a whimper.

There are still nine games to go in the Premier League and the supporters will be looking for the players to pick themselves up and put in some performances between now and the end of the campaign.

There is plenty of looking ahead to the end of the season in the aftermath of that RB Leipzig defeat. We have plenty of that and more below in our round-up of all the biggest and best news stories from around N17 in the past 24 hours.

Players to get more game time

Tottenham's season is all but over.

In the space of ten days they have gone out of the FA Cup, slipped seven points adrift of Chelsea in the race for the top four and been knocked out of the Champions League.

So there is not a great deal to play for, unless they start picking up results quickly and get themselves back into the top four picture.

If they do not though, some young players could benefit from the poor run of form.

We take a look at who could get game time in the final few weeks of the season.

Liverpool challenge

Jose Mourinho pointed to the injuries his team is suffering as Spurs were knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Tottenham suffered a 4-0 aggregate defeat to RB Leipzig in the last 16 to end their involvement this season.

And with the club seven points adrift of Chelsea in the race for the top four, they look likely to miss out on next season's tournament too.

But Mourinho issued a challenge to the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona after the defeat.

Levy message

Has Jose Mourinho been sending a cryptic message to Daniel Levy about the summer transfer window this whole time?

Spurs need new players in the summer to rebuild their ailing squad.

And Mourinho's comments about the young players at Tottenham this season have been pointed in their delivery to Levy.

Hugo Lloris dilemma

There will no doubt be upheaval at Tottenham this summer.

Jose Mourinho will be keen to make new signings, while there are a number of players that are expected to leave.

Could Hugo Lloris be one of them?

The club captain has been a fine servant to Spurs in the last seven years, but he has been out of the team with a bad injury this season, which came after a mistake against Brighton, and made two more errors in the Champions League elimination.

Has has undoubted quality, but could Tottenham do better?

And should Mourinho be looking at alternatives this summer?
