Jose Mourinho refuses to clarify why Dele Alli was dropped for Chelsea vs Tottenham

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho has refused to clarify why Dele Alli has dropped from his side’s starting line-up for their game against Chelsea.

Alli cut a frustrated figure after being taken off during the midweek defeat to RB Leipzig in the Champions League, throwing a water bottle and one of his boots in anger in the dugout, while holding his head in his hands in frustration.

Mourinho believes Alli was angry with himself rather than at him following his outburst on Wednesday night.

But the former Chelsea boss was not keen on talking about the midfielder's omission and believes he is being treated differently to other managers in the Premier League.

Jose Mourinho on returning to Stamford Bridge

"I am not sure you ask every manager in the Premier League when some player stays out you ask the same question," he told BT Sport.

"It looks to me like it is normal for other managers to leave out any player that wants and with me I make a decision of this type, it is also a big story around them so I would prefer not to answer.

"I can not demand more than what I do in every game. Which is to give everything they can give.

"Of course we only have two days to prepare for the game but we prepare the best we could.

"As I was expecting they come with this system and with Alonso playing. We are expecting and we prepare ourselves tactically for that.

"And with what we have available we are going to fight for the points."
