Jose Mourinho makes Manchester United Premier League prediction

Jose Mourinho thinks it would be a good achievement for Manchester United to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season.

The former United manager believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side will either finish fourth, fifth or sixth after a mixed start to the new campaign where they've picked up eight points after five games.

Liverpool are already clear at the top of the league and Mourinho believes United are not capable of fighting for the title with their current team.

"From the outside, I think they will finish between fourth and sixth. But that’s my point of view and I don’t think they are a team capable of fighting for the top-two, of course," Mourinho said during punditry duty on Sky Sports.

“But I think it could be a good achievement for them to finish top-four and coming back to the Champions League."

And Graeme Souness believes finishing in the top four and securing Champions League football for next season would be a fantastic achievement for Solskjaer's side.

“They would snap anyone’s hand off. I don’t see them in the top-four,” Souness said ahead of United's game against West Ham.

“I think that it would be a fantastic result. With that group, everyone would have to be at their very best. Consistency is something that young players don’t always have.

“I think it’s a very hard sell for United to say to the supporters ‘we’re now going down the road of bringing young players through , you’re going to have to be patient’. It’s Man United, one of the biggest football clubs in the world.

“The supporters aren’t going to turn up and say ‘oh, didn’t the youngsters play well’ if they’ve lost 2-1. I just don’t see that. The pressure is on United, it’s a big, big football club, one of the biggest in the world, and maybe in some aspects the biggest."
