"On the telly you could see how much struggle the NHS was going through," he said.

"At the beginning, I don't even know if there was enough PPE. Staff were coming in unprotected and having to treat patients and then go home to their families.

"When you were watching that on the telly, that was quite shocking. It's incredible from all the lads in the Premier League to be able to raise so much money.

"Even when the pandemic is over, the wellbeing, the mental health of a lot of the staff will need to be treated carefully.

"I'm here to say thank you to all of you for what you've done, I can only imagine how tough it's been."

"To be able to support them, to get the right help that they need will be really important going forward."
