Jordan Henderson injury 'doesn't look good' as Liverpool wait on scan results

Jurgen Klopp admits it “doesn’t look good” for Jordan Henderson after the skipper became the latest victim of Liverpool’s centre-back injury curse.

Henderson was forced off on the half-hour mark of the Reds’ 2-0 Merseyside derby defeat at home to Everton on Saturday evening.

The captain, again playing at the heart of defence alongside loan signing Ozan Kabak, pulled up when challenging for possession with Abdoulaye Doucoure and limped out of the action having initially tried to play on after treatment.

Henderson is expected to undergo scans on Sunday to ascertain the extent of the damage.

Klopp, though, is fearing the worst as he continues to grapple with a remarkable injury crisis.

“It’s the groin, adductor region,” said the Reds boss.

“Nobody in the medical department was kind of positive about it.

“It doesn’t look good but we have to wait for the scan tomorrow hopefully.”

Fabinho, another centre-back alternative, was already missing while main options Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip have all previously been ruled out for the season.

It means Kabak, fellow new signing Ben Davies – who is yet to play for the club – and Nat Phillips, who replaced Henderson, are Liverpool’s only remaining senior centre-back options.
