Jonny Hayes isn’t just a good footballer. He’s also a right laugh.
Just ask Scott Brown. The Irishman is captain Brown’s go-to-guy when he fancies a bit of banter on the training pitch.
It doesn’t matter that a showdown with Serie A giants Lazio lies in wait. No, football can be too serious so thankfully Brown has a sparring partner at Lennoxtown to bring a little humour to proceedings.
Heck, the mood was so good at Celtic’s training HQ even Odsonne Edouard had a massive grin plastered all over his face (Charlie Nicholas will be pleased).
Whatever caused the chuckles is not known but it was clear who was at the centre of it. Step forward Messers Brown and Hayes.
The skipper clearly loves the little winger and this was evident yet again as the squad took part in their final full session before Thursday night’s Europa League clash with Simone Inzaghi’s side.
Hayes was het for something, that’s for sure and it annoyed him so much he flashed the middle finger. Done with a smile of course.
Mind you, it was soon down to some serious work as Neil Lennon whipped his table-toppers into shape.
The manager also got in the act with some ball work ahead of the Group I glamour clash.
Forgotten man Eboue Kouassi also trained but appears to remain as far as ever from Lennon’s first team. It is likely the Irishman will play the same team that dismantled Ross County save for perhaps Jeremie Frimpong – despite his excellent performance at right-back.
There also doesn’t appear to be any more injury concerns although Lennon will confirm the state of his squad at the press conference later in the afternoon.
