It seems beloved TV host Jonathan LaPaglia just can’t catch a break, amid new reports that Top Gear Australia — the series he hosted alongside Survivor — has not been renewed for another season.
That’s right, just weeks after he was unceremoniously axed as Channel 10’s Saddy (Survivor daddy), it’s now rumoured that LaPaglia has lost his other hosting gig.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, which exclusively revealed on Saturday that Top Gear will not return for another instalment either this year or in 2026.
Per the outlet, Top Gear — a revival of the UK original which aired its most recent Aussie season in 2024 — has been quietly dropped from the programming slate of its streaming home, Paramount +.

While the show, co-hosted by LaPaglia, Beau Ryan and Blair “Moog” Joscelyne, is said to have been shelved by the streamer, an insider claimed it hasn’t yet been scrapped altogether.
“It hasn’t been officially axed, but it’s absolutely not coming back, at least not with this line-up,” the source told Daily Mail.
Top Gear Australia marked the third attempt to revive the series for Aussie audiences, following two previous outings on SBS and Channel 9 in 2008 and 2010, respectively.
Despite these recent reports, Top Gear Australia’s eight-episode revival was quite the success when it first aired, and is reportedly one of Paramount +’s most-watched local originals.
It’s also the show my Dad chucks on when he’s sick of all the Real Housewives “trash” I’ve been watching, so I’m not looking forward to informing him of this news.
While we will have to await official confirmation as to Top Gear Australia’s ultimate fate, the news might just deal another blow to LaPaglia, whose exit ahead of Survivor’s 2026 season has already shaken the Aussie TV landscape.

In the fallout of that bombshell announcement, insiders fired off their behind-the-scenes thoughts, rumours of a Survivor host replacement spread like wildfire, and LaPaglia was caught getting rather shady about David Genat on social media.
Fans also rushed to commiserate the loss of LaPaglia from Aussie TV screens, but if these Top Gear reports are proven true, their mourning period just got a little heavier.
