In a historic move that’s extremely timely and deserved, People magazine has crowned Jonathan Bailey as 2025’s Sexiest Man Alive, making the actor the first openly gay male to cop the title.
From making us froth as Lord Anthony Bridgerton in Netflix’s Bridgerton to dancing his way into our hearts as Fiyero in Wicked, Bailey has officially been named People‘s Sexiest Man Alive for 2025.

While we’ve had a plethora of hotties on the radar — think Pedro Pascal and Joseph Quinn for Fantastic Four, and Michael B. Jordan in Sinners — Bailey’s top spot is rightfully deserved.
Reflecting on his brand-spanking new title, Bailey told the publication that it was a “huge honour” and that he’s “incredibly flattered”.
“It’s completely absurd,” he laughed.
“It’s been a secret, so I’m quite excited for some friends and family to find out.”
Since People made its announcement, Bailey’s Wicked co-stars — including Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jeff Goldblum, Bowen Yang, Ethan Slater and more — shared a video, giving their little Fiyero their kudos for Sexiest Man Alive.
“He’s the sexiest man, not only on this planet, but in the solar system, in the universe and in the multiverse,” Wicked zaddy Goldblum said.
Reflecting on his life, before his Sexiest Man Alive status, Bailey admitted that he never really “thought of myself as sexy as I grew up” and that he was most confident in his skin when he was a kid.
“At various moments in my life I’ve been like, ‘I’ve got this,’ which is sometimes met by a deep spike of fear and self-doubt,” he said.
“When I was really young, I was very confident about who I was, and maybe I lost that as I grew up. We’re all sort of trying to get back to the origin, aren’t we?”
Alongside that sweet piece of insight into his private life, Bailey revealed that his first celebrity crushes were Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid and Trini Kwan (played by Thuy Trang) from Power Rangers.

Bailey also opened up about his charity, The Shameless Fund, which he founded back in 2024.
The Shameless Fund works to support LGBTQIA+ organisations while helping eradicate the shame in the community Bailey is a part of.
“There’s so many people that want to do brilliant stuff who feel like they can’t,” Bailey told People.
“And I know the LGBT sector is under immense threat at the moment. So it’s been amazing to meet people who have the expertise and see potential that I could have only dreamed of.”
With his charity, his impeccable taste in celebrity crushes, as well as his amazing performances on the silver screen, People made the best choice for Sexiest Man Alive for 2025.
